I AM JOINING TEAM ZOOT FOR 2020

2019 was going to be the year where I took that step over from running to triathlon. I began that year buying a new trisuit, my first item from Zoot and absolutely loved it and the fact that it had Kona writen on the back made it even more special.
My first triathlon of the 2019 was IRONMAN 70.3 MALLORCA this was also the first race wearing the new Zoot trisuit. Sadly, that race ended after the bike due to an injury which ultimately put me out for the rest of the 2019 race season.

Whilst that was a race to forget, the trisuit was a win. I loved it. I looked the part, felt comfortable and confident.

During the months of injury rehab I discovered that Zoot have a team who race as Team Zoot. After doing some research and speaking to a friend who was on the 2019 team, I found that Team Zoot shared a lot of values that I did and it did not seem intimidating.

I find that triathlon can be quite intimidating to someone new to the sport. Lets face it, there is a lot to learn with swimming, biking and running not to mention all the gear and race rules etc.

The Team Zoot application is not about finding the fastest racers or those who have the biggest following on social media. It is about family. Bringing together likeminded people who have that love for the sport and want to share it with others whether that be newbies or Kona vets. People who, if they someone struggling during a race, would shout encouragement and give that person the motivation and lift to keep pushing, not someone who would just go by without helping a fellow athlete.

So, when applications for the 2020 team opened, I put my application in. More in hope that I would be able to join the family and represent a brand which I have grown to love over the past 12 months.

Following the my big main injury comeback race at the New York City Marathon, I took two weeks off training and we went to Disney World for a family vaction. I knew that Zoot were due to announce who had made it onto the 2020 team during that two week period.

As I was at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park, floating around the lazy river with my 4yr old daughter, pretty much at the exact time my wife took this photo.

I received an e-mail notification on my watch reading “Zoot Sports, Welcome to the Ohana”.
