2020 GOALS

2019 was a good year for running. I set new PB’s at the 5k, 10k, Half Marathon and Marathon distances as well as achieving my long-term goal of running a Boston Qualifying time. Triathlon wasn’t as successful due to missing 4 months of the season with injury but I did come back to run a PB at the Outlaw X middle distance triathlon.

Looking ahead to 2020 I have a few things that I would like to do/achieve. I feel it is important to set yourself goals and to challenge yourself. Let’s face it, without goals you can’t score.

On the running side of things, I had two long-term goals which I set myself back in 2016 as I was just starting to train for my first marathon. These long-term goals were to run all 6 of the World Marathon Majors and to qualify for the Boston Marathon. Each year my goals have been aimed at taking steps towards these long-term goals.

At the TOKYO MARATHON 2019 I achieved that long-term goal of running a BQ. That in term gained me entry into the 2020 Boston Marathon, which will be the 6th of the 6 World Marathon Majors, thus completing the second long-term running goal. After that, I have no other long-term running goals.

Triathlon-wise, my long-term goals are to qualify for both the Ironman 70.3 World Championship and the Ironman World Championship as well as race for the GB Age Group Team at middle distance.

2020 Goals:

  1. Run a sub-3-hour marathon
  2. Run a sub 85 minute half marathon
  3. Collect the 6 Star Medal in Boston
  4. Qualify for the GB middle distance Age Group team
