This post will be quite brief. Today was race day so I will post a separate New York City Marathon race recap. I have a rule when it comes to posting or making any decisions after a big race like this. Leave it 72 hours before doing anything regarding the race. That gives time for things to sink in and not post in the heat of battle with the adrenaline still flowing.
After a busy day 1 and day 2 today was pretty relaxed (not talking about the actual race here).
Pre-Marathon
The day started with the 4:30am alarm call. I slept a lot better last night and with the clocks moving back an hour overnight, that extra hour of sleep was very much welcomed. I was just short of an 8-hour sleep
The first thing I did was get ready for the marathon, kit on and drinks mixed. I was out of the door by 5am and on my way to the New York Public Library to catch the bus to the start.
Passing through Times Square, it was actually the quietest I have ever seen it.

I called in to Starbucks to get my morning coffee fix. At 5:30am it was packed with marathon runners.

Just after taking this photo, the guy in the grey beanie came over and said he was Owen, a guy I chat with on Instagram. What are the chances of just randomly bumping into him in a Starbucks like that? I guess after randomly bumping into Marcus and Bobby on Friday, the odds aren’t as slim as you would think.
We walked together to catch the bus out to the start village.
Post Marathon:
After the marathon, I met up with my wife and daughter outside the park exit at 85th street.
We walked back down from 85th street to our hotel on 48th street, this took around an hour, not too bad considering the number of people waiting for runners to come out.
We spent a few hours in the hotel room just relaxing. I had a busy day running the marathon but my wife and daughter also had a busy day walking up to 86th St & 1st and over to 90th St & 5th then through the Park to meet me.
I wanted to take my daughter to Times Square to see the lights so we went just after 5pm. It was a little busier than 12 hours before.

She loved all of the boards and lights and was running around, jumping, and just generally having fun.

Naturally, I wanted to show off my race bling, adding the 2017 and 2018 medals to this year’s. Three of the best races I have had, anywhere in the world.

We went into M&M World and as you can imagine, a 4yr old kid LOVED it in there, we came out with two trays of “candy” and then went out to Shake Shack for the now traditional post-marathon meal.

That was pretty much it for the non-race day activities. Once back in the room we had to get our bags packed. Tomorrow we fly out of New York at 11:15 to Orlando for some Disney World fun.
