NEW YORK CITY MARATHON 2019 TRAINING UPDATE: WEEK 19

After completing my last big long run last week in the WEEK 17 & 18 update, this week was going to be different. I don’t think many marathon training plans will include a week over mountain biking 3 weeks before race day.

Typically, I would have my final long run this Sunday and then go into a two week taper.

This time, I had my long run three weeks out and this week will just be a bike week and then go into taper for week 20 & 21.

The plan this week is for 5 days of cycling whilst I am in Myanmar. I will include the links for each day of riding so that you can read my individual travel blogs for those days if you want to see more of the stunning Myanmar.

Week 19:

  • Running:  6 Miles – 52mins
  • Bike:  196 Miles – 15hrs 36min
  • Swimming: 0 yrds – 0hrs 0min

I was up early to get in a run whilst in Mandalay, even on a misty day at 6am the temperature was at 28’c and “feels like” 39’c with 90% humidity. It was a tough run but felt rewarding as well. Even at the slow easy pace it was nice to run in a different country and see a little more of the city.
